Meeting up with Richard today was really productive; we managed to sort out the schedule for the build week and Richard was able to double check every thing we needed for the build was ordered, or we had to go out and purchase it.
It was especially good for me because it was the first time I had someone looking at my drawings and telling me what I need to correct or improve on. He told me that they were generally very good, and it was only a few small things needed changing. What was good was that he said he could give these to his workshop and it would be made. (These are all the Version 1 drawings)
The first thing that needed to be changed on all the drawings; dimensions need to be in red not blue as I'd done them. Also, the dimension leader needs to be set away from the line it's measuring as it becomes very confusing as to what is part of the set and what it a dim line. This was easy enough to change as it was just a matter of re-formatting the dimension settings; I just played around with them until I found a setting I liked.
Dim Format
Colour: Red "By Layer"
Offset from Origin: 30mm
Dim Line Offset : 6
Text Height: 100
Placement: Above - Centred - Aligned with Dim line
Arrow Size: 40mm
Also, it's never very clear what materials things are made of and I should make a key of materials so it is clear. The only other criticism Richard had was that the drawing of the structure is a bit confusing as the page layouts are a bit confusing and I need to look at re-formatting those. Overall he gave me a mark of 8 out of 10 then said "Must Try Harder"!!
This pre-build meeting with Richard made me a lot more confident about my work, my abilities and my work ahead.
